This is great news! Until now, this tool was only available to users who decided to pay or whose databases had more than 2,000 subscribers. Therefore, the time has come to explain to you step by step how to set up an automated system.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Automations are Mailchimp&#8217;s tool designed to <strong>automatically send an email to a subscriber or group of subscribers when they meet a series of<\/strong> previously established <strong>requirements.<\/strong> For example, in a welcome automation, this &#8220;requirement&#8221; is to be new to the database. When a new subscriber enters Mailchimp, an automated system is activated which sends an email to the new subscriber. The content of this email has been designed and defined by the account owner and can be followed by other emails.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let&#8217;s see <strong>an example of a welcome automation when a user signs up for the Mad4Madrid newsletter<\/strong>.<strong> This automation is composed of 2 mailings:<\/strong> the first one welcomes the user to the newsletter and explains what they will receive, as well as attaching a free guide to Madrid (which is the lure used on the website to attract subscribers) and also encourages them to follow the website on social networks. We will opt for <g id=\"gid_1\">List Activity<\/g>, in the left side menu, and within this, for <g id=\"gid_2\"><g id=\"gid_3\">Welcome Message<\/g><\/g>the first of the options: <\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.agenciareinicia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Captura-de-pantalla-2017-03-06-a-las-12.27.14.png\" alt=\"Mailchimp Automation Options\" class=\"wp-image-4484\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Next, you must <strong>give a name to the automation and choose the list to which it will be linked.<\/strong> As on previous occasions when creating campaigns, it is advisable to give it a name that will help us to easily recognize what the automation is about:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.agenciareinicia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Captura-de-pantalla-2017-03-06-a-las-12.29.02.png\" alt=\"Name Automatism Mailchimp\" class=\"wp-image-4485\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">4.The following screen will be displayed in this default mode:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.agenciareinicia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Captura-de-pantalla-2017-03-06-a-las-12.30.29.png\" alt=\"automatism-step-4\" class=\"wp-image-4486\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you look closely, the campaign is in draft (there is a gray pencil icon) and the <strong><em>Trigger<\/em> is 1 day after subscribers join your list, that is, it will be sent the day after subscribers join your list.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It has been shown that the opening rate is higher the less time elapses between subscription and the moment of receiving the first communication, generally approaching 60%, although it all depends on the hook. Therefore, we are going to edit this <g id=\"gid_0\">trigger<\/g> in <g id=\"gid_1\">Edit trigger<\/g>, in blue color and on the same line, so that it is sent immediately after registration. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The editing screen will default to launch after 1 day, so remember to change it:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.agenciareinicia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Captura-de-pantalla-2017-03-06-a-las-12.37.14.png\" alt=\"Mailchimp Automation Configuration\" class=\"wp-image-4487\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">6.In<strong> the <em>Delay<\/em> drop-down list,<\/strong> we must select <em>Inmediately<\/em> and check the box next to it so that the manually imported contacts also receive the email. So that it looks as shown below: <\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.agenciareinicia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Captura-de-pantalla-2017-03-06-a-las-12.39.18.png\" alt=\"Mailchimp Automation Configuration\" class=\"wp-image-4488\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Click on <em>Update trigger<\/em> at the top right and you&#8217;re done!<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">8.Then you have to edit the options of each email if you wish. Also by default they will be: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><em>Schedule: Every day, all day <\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>Segment: None <\/em><\/strong>(Segment: None)<\/li><li><strong><em>Action: None <\/em><\/strong> (Action: None)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As shown in the picture:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.agenciareinicia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Captura-de-pantalla-2017-03-06-a-las-12.43.05.png\" alt=\"Mailchimp Automated Sending Options\" class=\"wp-image-4489\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is correct but <strong>we have the following options that can be edited from the links colored in blue:<\/strong> <em>Edit Schedule, Edit segment and Edit actions.<\/em><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">8.1. Within Edit Schedule, we will find the possibility to edit the days and times of shipment.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the days we are offered the option of Inmediatly, which is the one currently selected, or by days, being able to choose to launch only on a specific day of the week or not to send it on weekends, etc.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.agenciareinicia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Captura-de-pantalla-2017-03-06-a-las-12.44.28.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4490\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div><div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.agenciareinicia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Captura-de-pantalla-2017-03-06-a-las-12.45.10.png\" alt=\"Send at\" class=\"wp-image-4491\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div><div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.agenciareinicia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Captura-de-pantalla-2017-03-06-a-las-12.45.29.png\" alt=\"Edit Schedule Mailchimp\" class=\"wp-image-4492\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the times, in addition to <em>As soon as possible<\/em>, we have <strong><em>Send at<\/em> to mark a specific time, or <em>Only send between<\/em><\/strong>, to choose the time when sending can be done: <em>Send at<\/em> is displayed like this:  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And <em>Only send between<\/em>, like this:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.agenciareinicia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Captura-de-pantalla-2017-03-06-a-las-12.45.48.png\" alt=\"Only send between Mailchimp\" class=\"wp-image-4493\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once we have decided how our automation will work, click on the black button at the top right and we will return to the automation screen.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">8.2. <strong>In the case of <em>Edit Segment<\/em>, we can choose a specific segment to which the email is sent or only if they meet the conditions we want.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.agenciareinicia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Captura-de-pantalla-2017-03-06-a-las-12.55.09.png\" alt=\"Edit Segment Mailchimp\" class=\"wp-image-4494\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">8.3. As for <strong><em>Edit Action<\/em>, we allow Mailchimp to perform an action after sending the newsletter,<\/strong> such as modifying the subscriber&#8217;s data, deleting the subscriber from the list, etc.  <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><br\/><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.agenciareinicia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Captura-de-pantalla-2017-03-06-a-las-13.01.53.png\" alt=\"Edit Action Mailchimp\" class=\"wp-image-4495\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">9. <strong>Once all these details have been chosen, it is time to design the email.<\/strong> To do this, click on <em>Design Email,<\/em> inside the email box:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.agenciareinicia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Captura-de-pantalla-2017-03-06-a-las-13.12.05.png\" alt=\"Design Email Mailchimp\" class=\"wp-image-4496\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">9.1. We will find the <strong>usual campaign editor<\/strong> in which we must first complete the <em>Setup<\/em> data:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.agenciareinicia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Captura-de-pantalla-2017-03-06-a-las-13.13.53.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4497\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">9.2. In<strong><em> Template<\/em> you have to select a Mailchimp template, a previously created template or a campaign that has already been sent.<\/strong> We recommend to create it first outside the automation, save it as a template and choose it in this step. <strong>If you have any doubts, you can read our article<\/strong> <a href=\"\/blog\/tutoriales-email-marketing\/guia-basica-de-mailchimp-como-crear-una-campana-desde-cero\/\"><em>How to create a campaign from scratch.<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once selected, <strong>in <em>Design<\/em>, we edit the design, add contents<\/strong> that we may have forgotten or correct errors. Once everything is correct, click on <g id=\"gid_2\">Save and Continue<\/g>, in the lower right menu: <\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.agenciareinicia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Captura-de-pantalla-2017-03-06-a-las-13.20.50.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4498\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>We already have the first email of our <em>Workflow (<\/em>or automation flow)!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">10. <strong>How do we create a second automation to be launched after the first one?<\/strong> As simple as clicking on the button that appears under the email, <strong><em>Add email,<\/em> and repeat the process:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.agenciareinicia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Captura-de-pantalla-2017-03-06-a-las-13.22.25.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4499\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">11. Under the first email will appear a <strong>second one in draft that we must modify following the same steps as with the previous one.<\/strong> We must pay special attention to the <em>Trigger<\/em> of this second email, which by default appears as <em>1 day after subscribers are sent previous email<\/em>, (1 day after the previous email was sent):<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.agenciareinicia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Captura-de-pantalla-2017-03-06-a-las-13.23.30.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4500\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>12. If we edit the Trigger, we can choose between hours, days and weeks:  <\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.agenciareinicia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Captura-de-pantalla-2017-03-06-a-las-13.31.27.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4501\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">13. Once all the changes and modifications have been made, you need to <strong>activate the automation<\/strong>. To do this, click <g id=\"gid_1\">Next<\/g>, on the right in the lower menu, and you will be taken to the <g id=\"gid_2\">confirmation screen where, as always, Mailchimp will remind you of the list on which the automation will work, the emails that make up the campaign and the details of the <g id=\"gid_3\">Trigger<\/g><\/g> for each one <g id=\"gid_2\"> <g id=\"gid_3\">.<\/g><\/g> All you have to do is click on the blue <g id=\"gid_4\">Start Workflow<\/g> button on the right of the lower menu:  <\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.agenciareinicia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Captura-de-pantalla-2017-03-06-a-las-13.33.45.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4814\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ready!<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once the automation has been created and activated, it will look like this, with green check symbols:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.agenciareinicia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Captura-de-pantalla-2017-03-06-a-las-12.11.32.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4813\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Your automation is running and you will see how the data starts to update.<\/strong> It will show you the percentage of opens, clicks, the number of subscribers who have received it and the<em>queue<\/em>, i.e. the new subscribers who are<em>queued<\/em> to receive the automation.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Advantages of automated systems<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A welcome automation is a very powerful tool to take the first step towards the loyalty of your subscribers.<\/strong>  Think of the moment when you subscribe to a newsletter and on your screen you read this message: &#8220;Thank you for subscribing! In a few minutes you will receive a confirmation of your subscription in your email&#8221;. What do you do next? Open your email and wait for the email to arrive. Even if you don&#8217;t receive it for a long time, you open the Spam folder to &#8220;rescue&#8221; it and mark it as safe.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With this example what we mean is that the <strong>moment someone subscribes to a list, is when their interest in your store\/product\/information\/etc. is at its highest and therefore the perfect opportunity to make sure they open your first email and click on its contents.<\/strong> That simple gesture is already telling the email manager that it is not spam, that it is safe.
